Designer ideals

Our time clearly shows problem areas. In the country's economy, public relations, politics, construction and design as well. Identifying these weaknesses should suggest the direction in which to work in order to fix everything in the near future. This is only the first step in thinking that concerns designers, but I am deeply convinced that they can affect all areas of our lives.
In the meantime, there is no need to worry about it. ”
About ideals
In the meantime, there is no need to worry about it. ”
Let's assume that any design is a kind of nurturing. Educating your client, manufacturer and people in the market.

Now we see a huge amount of expensive foreign materials, furniture, lighting and decor. Very often all these things have an unreasonably high price and can be replaced with cheaper counterparts. Fashion dictates its own: the old sofa has lost its charm in the eyes of the owner, as at the last Milan exhibition appeared "improved" models, in which only the shape of the armrests and the color of the upholstery changed ... to so fashionable this season.
We, designers, now look at the old model with a certain condescension, not even realizing our social and moral responsibility. As R. Buckminster Fuller said: "If you want to be a designer, you have to make a choice: either make smart decisions or make money." Of course, this is difficult because often the life of a designer is driven by a market-driven system governed by the laws of benefit. It is difficult to get rid of such artificial values completely. Of course, a similar problem exists not only in our society, but throughout the world, which lacks the ideals of moral principles. But for us this has its consequences ... “Where there is enough bread and lack of ideals, bread does not replace the ideal. But where there is not enough bread, ideals are bread ”, - Yevgeny Yevtushenko.
Our ideal in most cases is bread. Yes, this is due to economic difficulties, lack of time or desire. We are looking for an easy way to solve problems with pre-planned marketing techniques for the mass consumer. Thousands of advertisers and psychologists have worked hard to make the need to buy a new product so tangible.

About durability
In the meantime, there is no need to worry about it. ”
Have you noticed how beautiful things can age? Take, for example, old copper, ceramics or wood furniture ...
This is due to the fact that they are created from natural materials in which everything is natural, even aging.
But now imagine that your kitchen has a scratch or chrome has been erased from the toaster body, or a completely new acrylic bathtub has turned yellow ... Believe me, such things do not happen due to a flaw, but according to the calculations of the manufacturer and its designer. This is an industrial design. Senseless and merciless. Since in our country little is produced, but actively bought, we become passive accomplices of this "philosophy of waste", agitate the client to buy short-lived fashionable goods.
In the meantime, there is no need to worry about it. ”
About responsibility
In the meantime, there is no need to worry about it. ”
Assuming that every design is an extension of a person (good or bad), the importance of human values is obvious. We are the ones who decide: whether to make “pshonka-style”, to sell tasteless Italian furniture or expensive decorative plaster. We should check every day: What kind of design are we creating? For human needs or artificial desires?
And I believe that responsible designers know this very well even without my text and for their part are trying to make Ukraine stronger and wiser. His daily choice between bread and ideal, not combining these concepts together.
